HVAC

Heating, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Mechanic and Installer

Air conditioning, heating, stoves, refrigerators, and other heating and cooling systems have become central parts of our daily lives – found in most every home and building.

Making sure these important appliances and systems are properly installed and kept running efficiently is the job of a heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration mechanic and installer (also referred to as an HVAC installer or mechanic).

In addition to installing and repairing HVAC machinery, specific tasks that may be called for in this role include inspecting and testing electrical circuits or mechanical components, conferring with customers to troubleshoot problems and issues, and documenting activities, as well as ensuring that all installations meet specifications and comply with any regulations.

Many HVAC mechanics and installers have a certificate and may receive more than a year of on-the-job training, given the need for highly specified knowledge in mechanical technologies.
